Wildcard Weekend........

Atlanta Falcons
Vs
Arizona Cardinals +2.5

Over/Under: 49.5

LockofTheWeek: We believe the Arizona Cardinals will lock up their first playoff spot with a win over ATL. We love the Cards to take care of business at home against the Atlanta falcons strictly because of Arizonas nonstop high powered offense led by Anquan Bouldin, Larry Fitzgerald and the running game of Hightower. Cards have rested most of their starters for the past couple weeks so they may have a few tricks up their sleeve. Maybe we wil see a reverse play for 80 yards, a flea flicker? who knows? If Arizona's Offensive Line can manage to protect Warner long enough for him to get comfortbale, Cards should have a field day. Arizona's Defense is more then capable of containing Matt Ryan and forcing him to turn the ball over. Arizona has the 18th best defensive rating in the league while Atlanta Falcons stand at 24th place . We like the Cards to Pull off a win at home with the Points.
Arizona +2.5

Week 17 | Bills Vs NE / Car vs. NO

Buffalo Bills +6
vs
New England Patriots

Over/ Under: 42.5

Carolina Panthers -1
Vs
New Orleans

Over/Under: 53.5

Lockoftheweek: This is probably one of the most confident picks we have brewed up this entire football season. We are going to go with a two team teaser on sunday. We like New England Patriots Even over Buffalo and Carolina +4 over New Orleans. We dont think Buffalo Personally stands a chance against the patriots, however, we teased the game down to make it even, just in case NE wins and Buffalo happens to cover. Carolina Needs this win and cannot afford to lose another game. I think Carolina is one of the best teams in the nfl currently and i think they will have enough firepower and solid defense to beat the New Orlean Saints. We look forward to seeing fireworks but Carolina should come away with a W. They should have beat the New York Giants last week but they missed the field goal to put the game away deep in the 4th quarter. This is a must win game for the carolina panthers and we think they will go into the superdome with confidence and swagger.
We are Taking New England Even and Carolina +5

Monday Night Football | Chi vs GB

Green Bay Packers +5
Vs
Chicago Bears

Over/Under: 39.5

Monday Night Projected Weather Report
Cloudy. A 30 percent chance of snow after midnight. Lows 3 to 7 above. Then temperatures becoming steady or slowly rising. Wind chills as low as zero to 10 below zero. South winds 10 to 15 mph.

Monday Night Lock: We like the two team teaser to cover on Monday Night. We like GB+10 and Over 34. We dont think the weather should be too much of a factor tonight, seeing as though both teams were made to play in the snow. GB has lost the last 4 games on their schedule, so this game will be for pride. I think mccarthy will do everything in his power to atleast keep this game close and stop it from getting out of hand. We think GB should be able to cover 11 points. GreenBay +11 Over 33

A Winter Wonderland in Boston Today...

Arizona Cardinals +7.5
Vs
New England Patriots

Over/Under: 42

LockofTheWeek: We are going with a 2 team teaser on this game. We like New England -1 and stay under 48.The weather is projected to be heavy snow and windgusts. We are probably gonna see a semi boring game with alot of ruhnning. Sorry for the late post, long night last night.
NE -1 Under 48

Saturday Night Football | Ravens vs Dallas

Baltimore Ravens +4
Vs
Dallas Cowboys

Over/Under: 39

LockofTheWeek: The key to winning the game tomorrow will be decided by the team who makes the fewest mistakes. We think Between Tony Romo and Joe Flacco, Tony will make less mistakes on turning the ball over just because of the game experience he has and the way he reacts to pressure situations. Dallas has a big advantage by playing at home with no weather conditions against one of the best defenses in the league. Dallas stadium can be pretty loud at times by the fans and may effect baltimores snap counts and audibles. The Dallas defense sacked eli manning atleast 7 times last week so i think the ravens are in for a long night. Were Not saying the ravens dont have an amazing defense, however, we think that tony romo has too many weapons on offense to be effected and completely shut down by the ravens. We like Dallas to pull a close win off while still covering this game. We are going to take Dallas -4

Thursday Night Football: Looking Ahead

Indianapolis Colts
vs
Jacksonville Jaguars +6.5

Over/Under:44

Tomorrows Weather: Partly cloudy. Areas of dense fog in the morning. Highs in the upper 70s. North winds 5 mph shifting to the east in the afternoon.(Perfect Weather)

Thursday Night Pick: We are going with the over in this pick. We look forward to Payton having a great game and also putting some serious points on Primetime. Everyone knows that Paytons no huddle offense is probably the best in the league and he can pretty much score at will. Especially, if for some reason colts have their back against the wall in the 4th quarter, Payton will find his way to the endzone, and does it artfully. With a win tomorrow, Indianapolis Colts clinch their playoff birth. Jacksonville on the other hand showed us last week that they actually can mix up the offense by running drew up the gut or even taylor on the toss, but also connecting with his receivers. David Garrard went 21-of-33 for 238 yards and two touchdowns for Jacksonville against the GB Packers. However, the Jags didn’t commit any turnovers while picking off Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers once. If the Jags can muster up atleast 13-17 points in this game, the over should look pretty good. We also like a small play on a 2 team teaser for protection. Indy even up, Over38

FINAL SCORE: 31-24 Indy

Goodluck... Stay Tuned For Dallas Vs Baltimore... Happy Holidays....

Eagles and Cleveland on Monday Night!

Cleveland Browns +16
vs.
Philadelphia Eagles

Over/Under: 40

Tonights Weather Report
Showers likely. Lows in the upper 30s. Southwest winds around 10 mph...becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Monday Night Pick: We are going with a 2 team teaser. Cleveland +22 Under 46

Friday, December 12, 2008

Green Bay Packers
Vs
Jacksonville Jaguars +2

Over/Under: 45

LockOfTheWeek: Green bay has lost 4 games in a row.The last game they played was a heartbreaker at home to Houston Texans. They are overdue for a break out game to atleast get the wheels turnin again. Look out for greenbays defense to stalk Garrard and force him to turn the ball over. This game may be over by halftime or early in the 3rd. We are going to take:
Green Bay -2

Thursday Night Football | Chicago Vs. New Orleans

New Orlean Saints +2.5
vs
Chicago Bears

Over/Under 46

Weather Report Projected For Thursday at Soldier Field
Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 20s.

LockOfTheWeek: With This particular game, we believe the weather will play a key factor in the outcome of this football game. It is projected to be in the low 20's , high Winds without any precipitation. The saints have the number one power offense according to CoachesCorner.com, however, with the combination of the high winds and the frigid weather, the pass game should be limited. This means Saints might have to keep most of their game on the ground and hope Reggie Bush and McCalister can cash in. This is where i think chicago will dominate this game. Chicago's Defense seems to be on a roll the last couple games and will probably look fwd to putting pressure on brees and smothering the run. I dont know how Reggie Bush plays in the the freezing cold but thursday will be a major test he will have to overcome. On the other side of the ball, Chicago needs to rush matt forte and dominate the trenches. Last week Matt Forte Had a big game againste the jaguars and is looking to follow up with another positive game. A record-breaking performance was turned in by rookie running back sensation Matt Forte, who eclipsed Gale Sayers' rookie record of 1,374 yards from scrimmage. Adding Forte's 106 yards against the jags, he now holds the record at 1,476 yards.
Maybe we will see Hester return a couple punt returns back or atleast accumulate great field position for the Chicago Bears. The Stadium will be very loud due to their dedicated fanbase, which may effect the saints and their snap counts. Although Chicago's offense isnt the best, i think their defense will pull a win out for them this week.

Play: Chicago -2.5. We also like the 2 team teaser in this game. We like Chi +4 Under 52

Monday Night Football | Carolina Panthers Host The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3
Vs
Carolina Panthers

OverUnder: 38

Monday Night Lock: Tonight should be a very competetive match up between the carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This Monday Night Showdown should be a shootout. Although Tampa bay has a great defense, Panthers should stil be able to score on most of their posessions. We think Garcia and Delhomme will be finding the endzone quite often in the game. We are going to go with the over. Over 38

Week 14 | New York Jets On The Road

Hello football fans and thank you for visiting Lock Of The Week. First and Foremost, I Would like to thank you for checking out our NFL Game picks and we hope that you will comeback and check the site or the latest premium sports lock. For anyone that tuned in, we nailed the San Diego Chargers Vs Oakland Game right on the head! We went with a two team tease that landed perfectly within bounds. Now that the Season is coming down to the wire, Games will be alot easier to pick....

The game that seems to stands out to us this week and that we have a really good feeling about would be the NYJ Vs SF 49ers. The 4 o clock showdown between the NYJ and SF 49ers will be exciting to watch, although we think the point spread in this game is a bit to low. When i flipped to the spreads and i saw that NYJ were only 3.5 point favorites, i immediately had to post about it. Lets Recap from last week. New York Jets are coming off of a tough home loss against the Denver Broncos and will be looking for redemption this week. What better way to take your anger and frustration out then SF 49ers. They literally have no offense. The only decent players on their offensive squad Would be Shaun Hill, which isnt much of a threat, Frank Gore, and Isaac Bruce. We believe Jets are going to go to SF and knock the lights out on the road. The San Francisco 49ers in my opinion, are garbage and will not be able to contain the NYJ Offense. SF is Ranked 23rd in defensive power ranking and Brett favre is well aware of that. With Brett favre 100% healthy, a beautiful California day, Leon Washington, Lavernious Coles, This Game could get out of Control. The line as of right now stands..

Weather Report For Sunday
Mostly sunny in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 50s. West winds 5 to 10 mph.

San Francisco 49ers +3.5
Vs
New York Jets

Over/Under: 42.5

LockOfTheWeek: TAKE THE JETS STRAIGHT.... We also like the 2 team teaser in this game for alittle protection. Take The Jets +3 and go over 36

Fun Facts...

» LaDainian Tomlinson passed Marshall Faulk for fifth place on the all-time career TDs list with 137.

» Raiders rookie Darren McFadden was held to under 50 yards rushing for the ninth time in 10 games this season. He had one run for no gain and two receptions for 8 yards.

» Chargers WR Vincent Jackson set a career high with 148 yards receiving on five catches, including a 59-yard touchdown catch from Philip Rivers.

» The Chargers' longest touchdown drive of the season put them up 17-0 early in the second quarter. It covered 96 yards in 15 plays, and was kept alive by a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on Raiders DT Tommy Kelly.

San Diego Hosts The Oakland Raiders..

Oakland Raiders +9.5
Vs
San Diego Chargers
Over/Under: 43

LockOfTheWeek: We are going with a 2 Team Teaser. Take The San Diego Chargers at home -3 and Stay under 49 Points. With this particular head to head match up, we should see alot of running between Ladainian Tomlinson and Darren Mcfadden. This should, in turn, eat up most of the clock, allowing the game to stay under 49. San Diego should take this one home tonight on Thursday night!

Goodluck and see you for sundays Lock...

Bad Call Costs Steelers Fans $32 Million

Update: See the "official" live SportsCenter response below. If you were one of the NFL fans waiting in the fading late afternoon light for the San Diego Chargers to be put out of their misery yesterday, you may have seen a rather unusual ending to the game at Heinz Field.

With his team already ahead by one, Pittsburgh's Troy Polamalu intercepted a pathetic attempt at a miracle play and scored an exclamation point touchdown as time expired.

Even though the clock read zero and there was no other possible outcome to the game than a Steelers victory, the referees kept everyone on the field for several minutes to launch an automatic review of the play, called a phantom penalty that did not happen—officials admitted after the game that the call was incorrect—and took the touchdown off the scoreboard. Not a huge deal, until you remember that the Steelers were five-point favorites and reversal meant that they went from not covering the spread to covering and back again thanks to a shady replay review on an otherwise pointless play.

Hey ... that's why they call it gambling, right? But when you look a little closer at the situation from Vegas' perspective, there does seem to be an unpleasant odor in the air.

"An estimated 100 million dollars was wagered worldwide on the Pittsburgh/San Diego game, according to RJ Bell of Pregame.com. Approximately 66% of that money was on the Steelers; with only 34% on the Chargers.

"If the touchdown was properly upheld, Steelers bettors would have won about 32 million dollars instead of losing big. This admittedly incorrect call resulted in a 64 million dollar swing in favor of the bookies." [Emphasis added.]

Of course, in the fantasy world of NFL-related telecasts gambling does not exist, so this point will likely go mostly unchallenged on your TV screens this week. (Bob Costas did mention the betting line in passing on Sunday Night Football, but I did not see that. Anyone have a clip?) Plus, the reversal meant the first 11-10 final score in the entire history of the NFL. Surely that makes up for the two large you owe your bookie, right?

If the NFL Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It [Stock Lemon]
Point Spread Talk Taboo on Broadcasts; Nantz and Costas Avoid the “G”-word* [Scott's Shots]

UPDATE: So apparently this controversy is so great that ESPN pretty much has no choice but to at least acknowledge the impact this call had on the betting world. But very carefully. Listen as Hannah Storm and Josh Elliott play dumb in order to appease The Goodell. Come on, Josh!

Thursday Night Football Prediction: New England Patriots Host The New York Jets...

NYJ +3.5
vs
New England patriots

Over/Under: 43

LockofTheWeek: This week we are leaning toward a 2 team teaser. Its a division rivalry and most of the time, division rivals play tight football. Therefore, taking 9 points can give you the extra o by the way at the end if you really need it. There is a 90% chance of rain in Foxbourough and it may come down to who has the better run game. We firmly believe that Lean Washington is a better running back than Green-Ellis. We didnt say that we actually like the Jets to win overrall, however, We think Favre will keep this close if not win outright. Either way, i wouldnt touch it with a stick, however, Enjoy...................

LockofTheWeek: 2 Team Teaser, NYJ +9 and Under 49

Final Score: Arizona 29 SF 24

Goal-line stand propels Cardinals over 49ers

The Arizona Cardinals used the timeless arm of quarterback Kurt Warner and one final goal-line stand to hold off the San Francisco 49ers Monday night in Glendale, Ariz.
Warner threw for 328 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cardinals to a 29-24 win against the 49ers.

Arizona prevented an embarrassing loss to the lowly 49ers (2-7) after its defence denied running back Michael Robinson from two-yards out on the final play of the game.
The win moves Cardinals (6-3) closer to their goal of winning a division title for the first time since 1975 — when the team played in St. Louis — and a first playoff appearance in 10 years.

The NFL West-leading Cardinals trailed throughout the game until linebacker Karlos Dansby's 34-yard interception return with 4:16 remaining in the fourth set up a Warner five-yard pass to receiver Anquan Boldin, giving Arizona a 29-24 lead.

The 49ers had two glorious opportunities to retake the lead on the next two possessions. The first was snuffed out by an Adrian Wilson interception. The last drive appeared to be the one San Francisco would score on and pull off the upset.

Quarterback Shaun Hill hit receiver Jason Hill for a 14-yard pass, moving the 49ers to the Arizona one-yard line.

With the last few seconds then ticking off, 49ers running back Frank Gore was pushed by a defensive player and lost his balance just outside the two-yard line before crossing the goal-line.
After officials reviewed the play to make sure Gore was down by contact, Hill handed off to Robison, who couldn't drive through the Arizona defensive line.
The Cardinals now have a commanding four-game lead over San Francisco, Seattle and St. Louis — which are all 2-7.

NFL Week 9 Recap

NFL Week 9 Recap

The Tennessee Titans needed overtime to protect their perfect record against Green Bay. Meanwhile there is only one winless team left, Kurt Warner had a monster game once again, and the Raiders may be looking for a new new coach.

New York Jets (5-3) 26

Buffalo Bills (5-3) 17

Things in the AFC East continue to get cloudier as Buffalo drops another, this time at home against the Jets. After Buffalo dominated the clock in the first half, but not the scoreboard, Brett Favre kept the Jets in front before throwing an interception for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. But he then came back and led the Jets on a 14 play, 8:41 drive for a field goal to put it out of reach for New York.

Chicago Bears (5-3) 27

Detroit Lions (0-8) 23

Kyle Orton scored on a 5-yard run before going out with an ankle injury, and Detroit scored 20 unanswered in the second quarter. But Rex Grossman came into lead the Bears and while his numbers weren't great in the second half (9/19, 58 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 rushing TD), he led the Bears to two scoring drives and the defense pitched a second half shutout to steal Detroit's first win of the season from them.

Cincinnati Bengals (1-8) 21

Jacksonville Jaguars (3-5) 19

Only a few weeks ago, it looked like Jacksonville was a favorite in the AFC and Cincinnati's Ryan Fitzpatrick might never win a game. The Jaguars have now lost three of the last four games (two at home) and Fitzpatrick led the Bengals to their first win of the season with a two-touchdown game, both to Chad Johnson. Jacksonville missed a two-point conversion with just over 1:00 to play that would have tied the game.

Baltimore Ravens (5-3) 37

Cleveland Browns (4-4) 27

Josh Cribbs returned kickoff 92-yards for a touchdown for Cleveland, but the Browns were inconsistent again this week, allowing rookie Joe Flacco to have his best game as a pro, 248 yards and two touchdowns, and Ray Rice to rush for 154 yards. Baltimore's defense held Jamal Lewis to just 49 yards, forced one fumble and one interception and shut out the Browns in the fourth quarter.

Tennessee Titans (8-0) 19

Green Bay Packers (4-4) 16 (OT)

Rob Bironas missed a potential game-winning 44 yard field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter, but nailed a 41 yarder in overtime. Aaron Rodgers racked up 314 yards in the loss for the Packers, while Chris Johnson and LenDale White combined for another 166 yards on the ground for Tennessee, helping keep them perfect for their first eight games of the season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3) 30

Kansas City Chiefs (1-7) 27 (OT)

Kansas City jumped out to a 14-0 lead and quarterback Tyler Thigpen scored on a 37 yard reception. Clifton Smith returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown for Tampa Bay and Jeff Garcia had a huge game (31/43, 339 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT) to lead the Buccs' comeback. Jamaal Charles had 106 yards rushing, starting place of Chiefs' suspended runningback Larry Johnson.

Arizona Cardinals (5-3) 34

St. Louis Rams (2-6) 13

Marc Bulger connected with Derek Stanley for an 80 yard touchdown on the first play of St. Louis's second possession. At that point, St. Louis must have had visions of winning and pulling within 1 game of the NFC West lead, but Antrel Rolle returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown for Arizona and the Cardinals added two more touchdowns in the final two minutes of the half to take the game back. The Cardinals scored 31 unanswered points, spanning the second and third quarters, as Kurt Warner threw for 342 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Minnesota Vikings (4-4) 28

Houston Texans (3-5) 21

Minnesota's Gus Frerotte threw for 148 yards in the first half and just 34 in the second, but he also tossed three interceptions and Adrian Peterson added one of his own (plus 139 yards on the ground) to hold off the Texans. Sage Rosenfels entered the game in the second half after Houston quarterback Matt Schaub went down with a knee injury, and Rosenfels had 224 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Texans.

Atlanta Falcons (5-3) 24

Oakland Raiders (2-6) 0

Darren McFadden can't be this valuable to the Raiders, can he? The Raiders managed just three first downs, none in the first half, and 77 yards of total offense against the Falcons. Matt Ryan won the battle of the highly drafted rookie quarterbacks, going 17-for-22 with 220 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. JaMarcus Russell, on the other hand, was 6-for-19, for 31 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Michael Turner rushed for 139 yards for the Falcons to lead all rushers.

Miami Dolphins (4-4) 26

Denver Broncos (4-4) 17

Jay Cutler put up some good numbers (306 yards, two touchdowns), and some really bad numbers (3 interceptions). Miami's Joey Porter sacked Cutler once and the Dolphins defense held the Broncos to just 14 yards on 12 carries.

Philadelphia Eagles (5-3) 26

Seattle Seahawks (2-6) 7

Koren Robinson took a pass 90 yards on Seattle's first play of the game, but the Seahawks gained just 150 yards of total offense for the rest of the game. Donovan McNabb put up 349 yards with two touchdowns and one interception as the Eagles rolled to a huge win in Seattle.

New York Giants (7-1) 35

Dallas Cowboys (5-4) 14

The Giants had an easy opening drive for a touchdown and never looked back. Dallas' Brad Johnson threw two interceptions before being replaced at quarterback, and Brooks Bollinger threw a pick on his first play behind center. The Giants defense had four sacks, four take-aways and allowed just seven points. Brandon Jacobs rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown, pushing the Cowboys down into last place in the NFC East.

Week 8 Recap

The game of the week in Pittsburgh did not disappoint, nor did the return of the NFL to London, or the return of Brian Westbrook to the Eagles' backfield. The Bengals, Lions, Chiefs and 49ers however, are another story completely!

___________________________________________________________________

New York Giants (6-1) 21
Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) 14

The game billed as the best game of the first half of the season, a possible Super Bowl XLIII preview, and the battle of the 2004 draft class lived up to its billing. Eli Manning's Giants dominated the first half but couldn't find the end zone and Ben Roethlisberger's Steelers dominated the second half but couldn't put the Giants away. A fantastic, hard-hitting game turned on a dime in the fourth quarter when the Steelers went for it on fourth-and-five and Roethlisberger's pass was picked off. The Giants then reversed the second-half momentum and rattled off 12-straight points to win a huge game on the road against an elite opponent, silencing critics. Manning had 199 yards and one touchdown while Roethlisberger had 189 yards, one touchdown and four costly picks.

Dallas Cowboys (5-3) 13
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-3) 9

Dallas' defense woke up after taking a few weeks off and their performance was enough to keep Brad Johnson and the offense in the game long enough to win it. The Cowboys are 1-1 without Tony Romo, and so far, it's been harder to watch than Jessica Simpson's acting. Tampa Bay reaches the season's half-way point 1 game out of the lead in the NFC South, and now out of the Wild Card spot after losing this would-be tie-breaker to Dallas.

Washington Redskins (6-2) 25
Detroit Lions (0-7) 17

The winless Lions might feel hopeless after losing this one. Detroit allowed Santana Moss to rack up 140 receiving yards and a touchdown, but the crushing blow came early in the fourth quarter when Moss took only his second punt return of the season to the house for what wound up being the game-winner. Washington finds themselves in a prime position to make the postseason, with the second best record in the Conference and wins at both NFC East rivals Dallas and Philadelphia under their belts.

Miami Dolphins (3-4) 25
Buffalo Bills (5-2) 16

The "wildcat" strikes again! It is difficult to predict where Miami will get its offense from with their unconventional offense, and this week it was Ted Ginn Jr. who shouldered the load. Ginn had seven catches for a career-high 175 yards. Buffalo squandered a nine-point lead and watched Miami score the game's last 18-points, including one of three safeties that occurred around the league in Week 8. Buffalo falls into a tie for the AFC East lead with the loss, but is still well-placed with only the Titans holding a better record.

New England Patriots (5-2) 23
St. Louis Rams (2-5) 16

Jim Haslett's Rams almost did it again. After an 0-4 start and a coaching change, the Rams had won two in-a-row and led the Patriots in the fourth quarter in Foxborough. But quarterback Matt Cassel steadily led the Patriots to two fourth-quarter scorings drives to steal the win. Don't look now, but the once dead-in-the-water Pats are in first place in the AFC East again.

New Orleans Saints (4-4) 37
San Diego Chargers (3-5) 32

The Chargers defense hasn't been able to stop anyone all season, and as it turns out, playing on another continent wasn't the answer. Drew Brees and the Saints marched into Wembley Stadium and found their swagger after a tough Week 7. Brees and the Chargers' Philip Rivers threw for a combined 680 yards and six touchdowns, putting on quite a show for the British crowd as the Saints outlasted the Chargers and withstood a 12-point San Diego run to end the game.

New York Jets (4-3) 28
Kansas City Chiefs (1-6) 24

Brett Favre wasn't exactly precise, but it worked. Favre threw three interceptions, but led the Jets to the win and kept their playoff hopes high. The honeymoon appeared over though, as Jets fans loudly booed Favre after his third interception. But as he said himself, "it was a little premature," as he then hit Lavernues Coles with a game-winning 15-yard touchdown pass touchdown with 1:00 in the fourth quarter. New York is just one-game out of the AFC East lead, but trails New England (who they already lost to once) and Buffalo (who they face in week 9).

Philadelphia Eagles (4-3) 27
Atlanta Falcons (4-3) 14

In a battle of two very good teams cursed with being at the bottom of two very good divisions, the Eagles kept their playoff hopes alive with a win thanks to the return of Michael Westbrook. The Swiss Army knife of running backs returned after two weeks off with a bad ankle and broken ribs, but still rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns, including the third-quarter game-winner and a fourth quarter exclamation point. Both teams will need huge second halves, with Atlanta in 3rd and New Orleans in 4th and a combined 0-4 in their respective divisions.

Carolina Panthers (6-2) 27
Arizona Cardinals (4-3) 23

The Cardinals are going to have to find a way to win on the road (1-3) if they hope to be taken seriously as a contender. Carolina's Jake Delhomme continued his fantastic return from Tommy John surgery as he led the Panthers' second half comeback. Carolina found themselves down 17-3 in the third quarter before their offense erupted for a 24-6 run to end the game. Carolina now leads the NFC South by a game as Arizona's lead in the NFC West dropped to two games.

Baltimore Ravens (4-3) 29
Oakland Raiders (2-5) 10

After an encouraging game last week for Jamarcus Russell, the Ravens defense put the rookie quarterback in his place in Week 8. The Raiders managed just 234 yards of offense on the day as they found themselves down 19 at half before finally scoring in the third quarter for the first time. Ravens' rookie quarterback Joe Flacco's numbers weren't impressive (140 yards), but he threw for a touchdown, ran in a touchdown and nearly caught a touchdown pass from Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith (Flacco stumbled and fell near the goal line after making the catch).

Cleveland Browns (3-4) 23
Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4) 17

David Garrard outgunned Derek Anderson, throwing 283 yards and two touchdowns for Jacksonville, but it was Anderson who got the last laugh. After an 0-3 start, the Browns are now looking like the team they were expected to be, winning three of their last four contests, including wins against good teams like the New York Giants and Jaguars in Jacksonville. The Jags had a chance to tie the game up in the final minute as wide receiver Matt Jones tipped a ball twice in the end zone before safety Nick Sorenson knocked it out of reach with his helmet.

Houston Texans (3-4) 35
Cincinnati Bengals (0-8) 6

Texans quarterback Matt Schaub made sure there would be no let-down against the winless Bengals as he lit the beleaguered Cincinnati secondary for 280 yards and three touchdowns. The win is the Texans third in-a-row as they battered Ryan Fitzpatrick, who only managed 155 yards in the air, threw two interceptions, lost a fumble and was sacked twice. While Cincinnati fell to 0-8 for the fifth time in franchise history, the Texans hold the league's second longest winning streak, but are still looking up at all three teams in the AFC South.

Seattle Seahawks (2-5) 34
San Francisco 49ers (2-6) 13

The season has not gone how either of these NFC West rivals had planned, and even with a win in Week 8 for Seattle, it doesn't look like either has much to look forward to in the second half. Frank Gore got back on track after gaining 11 yards against the Giants last week, but he was kept out of the end zone again. Interim head coach Mike Singletary put his signature on the 49ers, sending tight end Vernon Davis to the locker room early, and benching starting quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan in favor of Shaun Hill. Seneca Wallace was solid for Seattle, throwing for 222 yards and two touchdowns, although Seattle was held to just 39 rushing yards. San Francisco has lost five straight.
